THIS is the dog you have been waiting for, folks! He is one laid back, mellow sort of fellow who loves to chill out in the yard-his favorite place is under the deck, watching the world go by. He likes other dogs, both male and female, is fine with cats (mostly ignores them, though the occasional sniff is in order). He is shy with people and likes to approach at his leisure rather than be approached, but once he warms up to you, he will walk up and put his head in your lap and just soak up the loving!
Don?t be fooled by the gray beard?he's estimated to be between 3-6 years old. I suspect he's earned every gray hair with some tough living with a pack of dogs on a Missouri farm. He's neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and microchipped. He's just waiting for you to come get him!
Update: Gentle Johnnie (aka Johnny Angel) is still here with me. I?m really not sure why because he is a such a sweet, sweet boy! He continues to enjoy laying under the deck and watching the world go by (all the pictures are him..under the deck!). He is calm on leash, well-mannered, and pretty submissive. He continues to ignore the cats and does great with other dogs. Johnnie does have some separation anxiety issues that are alleviated with an extremely affordable medication ($10 for 45 days) and we hope that, through training and confidence building, he will eventually not need the medication at all. Johnnie LOVES to swim, take walks, and hang out with his people. He?s not a real high energy fellow. I really am baffled why this cream puff is still looking for a home. He?s a GEM!

**BEFORE YOU CONTACT THE FOSTER HOME ** If you want more information or would like to meet the dog, you must FIRST fill out an application, have references check, a home check and become approved. For approved homes, dogs over 6 months of age are available for our foster to adopt program. The foster to adopt option is not available to puppies under 6 months of age. Our adoption fee for dogs 1-7 years of age is $250; for dogs under a year, $350; and $200 for dogs seven years or older, or for dogs with serious handicaps. Since we are a volunteer organization funded entirely by contributions, we count on your continuing support as well as your adoption fees to help defray the costs of caring for our foster dogs. We are delighted to accept any amounts over these minimum fees to help other dogs in our care. If you can't help with a donation of money we are happy to have you help with your time.
