Hercules is about 3 years old weighs under 50#'s and is a beautiful red color. He looks to be a hound-lab mix. He has medium energy, is housebroken and UTD on shots and is on heartworm preventative year round. He walks well on a leash and knows basic commands.
He enjoys having another dog to play with as they chase after toys and each other in the back yard. In the house he enjoys his nylabone, being near his loved ones and being a couch potato.
Hercules gets along with most dogs, but should meet any resident dogs first. He does not get along with cats. He would do well in a family with older children as he is somewhat skittish where a small child might startle him.
Hercules does not do well in a crate when left alone. He has separation anxiety which is improved, but not cured with very affordable medication ($10.00 every month or two). We have had success with enclosing him in a bedroom with our dog leaving a tv or radio on.
Hercules would do well with someone who is home most of the time, has another dog, or the time and energy to play with him and walk him.
He is very smart and so easy to love. His favorite thing is to crawl up on the couch to lay beside me. That to him is heaven.
YOU MUST HAVE AN APPROVED APPLICATION ON FILE WITH RUDY'S RESCUE BEFORE CONTACTING OUR FOSTERS ABOUT ANY DOGS. **BEFORE YOU CONTACT THE FOSTER HOME ** If you want more information or would like to meet the dog, you must FIRST fill out an application, have references check, a home check and become approved. For approved homes, dogs over 6 months of age are available for our foster to adopt program. The foster to adopt option is not available to puppies under 6 months of age. Our adoption fee for dogs 1-7 years of age is $250; for dogs under a year, $350; and $200 for dogs seven years or older, or for dogs with serious handicaps. Since we are a volunteer organization funded entirely by contributions, we count on your continuing support as well as your adoption fees to help defray the costs of caring for our foster dogs. We are delighted to accept any amounts over these minimum fees to help other dogs in our care. If you can't help with a donation of money we are happy to have you help with your time.
